Home » Violence, attempted murder, and Ndrangheta, meet AC Milan’s ultra leader: Luca Lucci

Luca Lucci was long considered the head of the “ultra” group known as Curva Sud, the organized hardcore ultras of AC Milan. Under his leadership, Curva Sud was reportedly transformed into a tight-knit, uniform group sometimes referred to as the “BANDITI”, with distinctive black outfits, scarves covering their faces, and a strong hierarchical structure. His rise to power in the ultras world is described as “less democratic and more imposed,” allegedly with the backing of earlier ultras and underworld figures from the Italian Mafia.

Lucci has been at the center of multiple criminal investigations, which involve serious charges, such as drug trafficking, attempted murder, criminal association, and mafia-linked organization.
Authorities alleged that the organization imported drugs (hashish, marijuana, cocaine) from abroad (notably Spain and Morocco, among others) and distributed them in Milan and beyond. The investigation reportedly uncovered over two tons of narcotics trafficked between Lombardy and Calabria. It doesn’t stop here because law enforcement seized about €800,000 in cash related to the alleged drug-trafficking activities of the Curva Sud Milan leader.

Lucci is also accused of being the instigator behind a 2019 attempted murder of another AC Milan ultras member, Enzo Anghinelli who luckily survived the attempt by Daniele Cataldo the right-hand man of Lucci.

Investigators allege that the drug-trafficking organization linked to Lucci had ties with the ‘’Ndrangheta’, a powerful mafia-style criminal organization from southern Italy, especially in logistics and drug distribution across different Italian regions (e.g. Lombardy, Calabria, Pavia, Reggio Calabria, Lecco, Piacenza).

The accusations suggest that the structure was not a loose group of fans, but a criminal network with cells, tasks, foreign contacts, import routes, and distribution lines, in short: a mafia-style organization disguised behind ultra-supporter identity.

Lately prosecutors from the Milan Court have requested a 20-year prison sentence for Luca Lucci, the former leader of Curva Sud Milano, who stands accused of heading a large criminal organization involved in international drug trafficking.Lucci, a prominent figure within the ultra community, was first arrested in September 2024 during a major anti-mafia operation targeting several Milan ultra groups. In that initial case, he was sentenced to ten years in prison, notably for an attempted murder dating back to 2019 which we mentioned earlier. Just a few months later, in December 2024, prosecutors issued a new detention order against him and seven other suspects in relation to the drug-trafficking charges.
