The leader of the Diabos Vermelhos, Sérgio Caetano, was found dead on Friday night next to the Luz stadium in Lisbon. According to Correio da Manhã, he was found inside a car with a shot to the head.

According to the same newspaper, the gun was inside the car. Sérgio Caetano had been missing since the morning, when he went to drop his son off at school.

According to sources, another member of the same group is missing.
Sources say that Diabos Vermelhos and No Name Boys (another group of ultras supporting Benfica) had some fights inside the terraces to take control of the scene, it is speculated that Caetano had many debts to some shady people and he wanted to take control of the tickets and merchandise to repay his debts so he tried to remove No Name Boys from the stands, but unsuccessfully.

Benfica mourned the death of Sérgio Caetano, who it considered “an unavoidable figure in the Benfica universe”. “His unwavering dedication to the Club remains as an indelible mark in the history of support for Benfica, in the most different stadiums and pavilions, in Portugal and abroad”, says a note from the club.
